Happy Holidays!

So around this time of year the malls are filled with crazed shoppers, children playing and hoping for the presents they’ve been wishing for, people reflecting on their year and their new years resolutions….happiness all around. For me this time of the year is filled with mixed emotions….sadness, reflection, happiness, pride, etc. One emotion that never fails me around this time is sadness.
The sadness comes from being reminded that so many people are not joyous around the holidays. The radio waves are filled with callers needing gifts, mothers crying to the radio jocks for presents for their kids because the little money they make has to pay the bills. For those that are barely getting by, this is not a joyous time. Many people are reminded of the family members and close friends they have lost, because those people made the holidays special.
Im always grateful for life, I love my life and everyone in it. I’m thankful for the people around me and those that inspire me to work harder. Ive always felt that true success is shown when one can give back to their community or the world in a way that helps others.
What always amazes me the most, is that I always see people that are barely getting by themselves, helping others. This makes me think that those who barely have, understand the struggle and understand how a lending hand can mean the world to someone else. Those that have more money (this does not apply to ALL people that are so-called “rich”) are so far removed from the struggles of life that they forget the struggles that so many others endure on a regular basis.
I want to take this time to be grateful and thankful for knowledge and open eyes. Im thankful for all the wonderful people in my life. I’m thankful for those that help others. Im so grateful for each day on earth and I’m thankful for all the wisdom and knowledge passed down to me by those that have passed on to. Lets all take this time to reflect on our blessings…and how we can help others in the new year. A helping hand can be a simple smile to a stranger, helping a local organization in their efforts or just a kind word to someone that needs it.

Peace and Blessings to you all!

  1. I share the same mentality as you. It is quite difficult to see so many struggling around this time of year however, it is encouraging to see many of those same people basking in the real reason for the season instead of the materialistic reason. Those that don’t have still seem to make the holidays memorable and filled with love…idk…it’s kind of a bittersweet feeling in the end.

    But SMILE…’tis the season’

    Happy Holidays!!!!!

  2. i think that you are completely valid in your thoughts. make you really think about what you can do to make a difference. the consumerism that these holidays create is overwhelming and people often times forget the importance of simply being together and enjoying each other’s company!

love you roro. spread love, smiles and joy!

    xoxoox

  3. EXACTLY!!!

too much sadness. this hasn’t been a great holiday since i developed a mind of my own.

  4. I totally feel you RoRo. Every year and not even just for christmas I rather give than recieve. Many people always say that they never have enough, but they forget that there are people who have less than them and don’t complain at all. Being with family, friends or serving in the community should be the main focus for the holiday season. I AM THANKFUL AND BLESSED FOR ALL THAT GOD HAS PROVIDED ME WITH BECAUSE THERE IS ABOUT 100S MEN AND WOMEN SPENDING THEIR HOLIDAYS IN A HOMELESS SHELTER IN MO COUNTY

  5. Ro! I love love LOVE the attitude of gratitude and the rampage of appreciation in this blog! It’s always great to take time out and count your blessings! I’ll be reading frequently!! Keep up the inspiration!!!

  6. So you’re thankful for me…I feel special…lol..jk All jokes aside you really hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s amazing what can happen by helping your fellow man…

    Keep them coming Ro!

    Happy Holidays!

  7. Very well put Ro. In such a consumer driven society it’s very easy to lose sight of what’s important, caring for others and showing affection to those close to us. Thank you for the wonderful reminder.

  8. @ Trillzart Yea I guess we have to take the good with the bad…and seeing the bad makes me appreciate the good even more. Happy Holidays chica! XOXOXO

@Maudiepooh I always enjoy your company boo! Id rather spend time with the ppl I love than have gifts that mean nothing to me…or I wont even want for long. The memories shared with loved ones will never be forgotten and will always be cherished in my heart…there arent many physical items that I can say have the same place in my heart as those memories. Luv ya chica

@Abednego Yea once you really think about the holidays and wht ppl are really going through, its kinda hard to be really happy. I guess thats why they say ignorance is bliss (sometimes)

@President Jones Thanks bro!!! I think we were blessed to become friends and I’m happy to know that youre doing well. Keep making me proud!

@Trav Yes Im thankful for you and your smart mouth Travis! Happy holidays!

@Sam Thanks Samson! Th consumerism of this season is disgusting…ppl buy presents that others want, not what they know they need. Id rather have a family member invest money in a stock or into a savings account to help pay loans than a new parfum or article of clothing. Most people dont even put thought into those gifts, which makes it even worse…then they start the new year being broke and wondering why. Im grateful for the little things and the people I love! Thanks for the comment!

@Delly I totally agree Dellz, ppl forget the meanings of the holidays. We are blessed!

  9. Well said Rochelle, If we can all give back a little something; maybe an hour a week for a cause we believe we could be part of the change.

Thank you for the inspiration, a wise person once said; be the change you seek.

    Stay blessed.

  10. two thumbs up…Roro!!!!
